On Mother’s Day

It must be a very special day around the world celebrating Mother’s day this weekend. Flower shops must be busy preparing floral arrangements for their customers. Of course, we cannot deny that small businesses take advantage of this special holiday. With the technology, you can find anything online and buy it from there. I happen to come across different advertisements everytime I check my email or visit my regular sites. Bags for sale flashes on various web pages to attract netizens. It’s interesting how products are easy to reach just by the tip of your finger.

Back in the day, say 20 years ago, when I used to live in the Philippines, Mother’s Day isn’t as prominent as it is now. Although, growing up I have seen commercials on television showing mothers playing with their children or having dinner with the family and sometimes receiving gifts from relatives. It was way simple back then, we make cards and buy flowers at the shop. Usually we go to church to attend Mass with the family on a Sunday. We even dine-in together in our favorite restaurant as a family. Today, it seems impossible to just dine-in or even go out because of the crisis of pandemic we’re currently dealing with. Although, the only option is to stay at home as per required by the government. We can still order take out foods, order online for gifts, or just prepare delicious meal at home. The lockdown stated by the government doesn’t mean to help at all due to the fact that people still gather in different locations. Due to the stressful pandemic outbreak, I’m not currently updated with the news. It’s already stressful staying inside the house with the kids and I feel like I’m just adding more headache to myself if I worry about the effect of this pandemic.

The truth is, people are exhausted. It’s been awhile since the pandemic outbreak and we seem to always keep going back and forth and instead of making things better, the Covid19 cases keep on increasing. Do we really want to make things better? I just don’t understand why some people still choose to gather. I don’t think they understand the consequences of their action. Now, it’s Mother’s Day weekend, I would expect increase again in numbers of Covid19 cases and not wonder if it really does happen.

Have any advertisement caught your attention? I don’t usually buy designer’s bag as they are extremely expensive but I have seen such beautiful bags in my regular websites. They flash them at almost any website you visit. I imagine myself trying to understand the point of view if you are a celebrity, with a lot of money you earn, won’t you also prefer expensive bags? Personally, it depends on the design of the bag. I really like the ones that are not only good looking but has features that match my personality. Everytime I look for bags I always check for the quality and obviously the prices first. If it is extremely expensive or affordably expensive even but the features are terrible, I think it isn’t worth it at all. For example, what I notice with bags is that, they sell it by famous personality or just the name of the popular designer, they seem to add the name on the bag in order for it to be labelled as the best selling product among the rest of the bags. I personally think that a bag must have a good quality not just good looking outside or has the famous name that everybody wears. After all, don’t we want to be satisfied with the product we buy? Women wants to wear affordable and have a very good quality when it comes to getting a new bag. We also want the bag to last for a long time. Now, I end up buying new bags because I’m just tired of having such cheap and not so worth it bag. It’s either they don’t look handsome or they didn’t last for a long time, meaning the quality was not worth it. What are your preferences when it comes to buying a bag?

What are your plans for Mother’s Day? My husband and I plan to spend time with the boys at home preparing meals. Of course, it’s a special occasion even though, I don’t personally consider it a holiday. If you are a mom, you are probably much more occupied with your regular chores for the day and don’t notice a difference. It’s just different when you have little ones because your day revolves around them, period. It’s always busy. I hope you spend your time with your family this Mother’s day and don’t forget to remind your mothers or any mother you knew that they are love and appreciated. Happy Mother’s Day everyone!
